Mozart in Mauthausen-by Dr.E.Oberklammer

1762-10-04 The family Mozart arrived by ship Mauthausen, situated 21 km from Linz in the east on the Danube. They slept in the house of an old commercial firm, named "Perger". The adress is now "Heindlkai 17", named to Leopold Heindl, lord mayor of Mauthausen 1870-1909. Since 1981 there is a bord near the north-portal of the church of Mauthausen, remembering to the 4./5. 10. 1762. On foto 6 you can see left the castle of Mauthausen, in the middle the church, and right the last house ist the "Perger-house".

In 2010 I wrote a book about the distrikt of Perg with the titel
"BEZIRK PERG, Kunst und Geschichte"
(Distrikt Perg, art and history),
published by Trauner-Verlag in Linz.

In Oktober 2012 I shall have the presentation of my new book "LINZ", a guide for travellers.
The fotos, I send now to you, are in the both books. You can use it for what you want.

1762-09-26 Leopold Mozart with Wolfgang and Nannerl arrived by ship Linz, comming from Passau.
They slept in the inn "Kiener" in the house "Hofberg 11/Hofgasse 14". On the wall of this house is since 1950 (?) a board, remembering to these days. During the time till 3.10. the Mozarts had one (or two?) concert in the town hall of the city, adressed "Hauptplatz 1". Today it is also the town hall.

1762-10-05 The Mozarts left Mauthausen, going further to Vienna. The next stations I dont know. In Vienna there were some concerts, one for Maria Theresia, the archduke of Austria and the woman of the imperator Franz I. Stephan, you can see on the genealogical tree of the Habsburg-family.

1767-09-12/13 Wolfgang A. Mozart slept in the inn "Grüner Baum" (green tree) in Linz, Bethlehemstraße. He had dinner in "Lambacher Stiftshaus" (house of the abbey of Lambach) in "Linz, Landstraße 28". All big abbeys had in this time an own house in the capitol Linz.

1783-10-31 till 11-20 (?) Wolfgang A. Mozart was living in the house of the Count Johann Joseph of Thun, in "Linz, Altstadt 17", also named "Starhemberger Freihaus" (Freihaus meens a house free of tax). In the entrance of the house there is a Mozart-statue, produced 1957 by Walter Ritter. In this house Mozart composed the "Linzer Sinfonie, KV 425" and the "Linzer Sonate, KV 333".

During this time (31.10. - 20.11.1783) Mozart gave a concert in the "Wassertheater" (water-theater). The Wassertheater was only playable 1752-1786. After then it was distroyed by a highwater. In 1858 on the same place there was built the "Hauptzollamt" (office for duty-tax). The adress ist "Zollamtstraße 7/Rechte Donaustraße 4".

Also in this time Mozart was listened an oper in the castle of "Ebelsberg". This village is since 1938 a part of the city of Linz. The concert was organised by "Hugo von Steyrer", holder of the castle.
